In Macau’s first ever participation in the “Hennessy MyWay 2026 Hong Kong & Macau Championship,” MGM’s Bar Patuá bartender Glen Corales was crowned champion, triumphing over a strong lineup of contenders.
The sole finalist from Macau, Corales has now secured his place in the “Hennessy MyWay 2026 Global Final,” taking place in France this November. The victory is a remarkable achievement for both MGM and Macau, as Corales is not only Macau’s first regional championship winner but also the first from Macau to feature on the global stage in the prestigious competition.
Born and raised in the Philippines, Corales has been with MGM since 2023, becoming part of the core team of Bar Patuá, where he refined his creativity and expertise in mixology in the unique environment which merges Macanese heritage and contemporary sophistication.
Having spent a decade in Macau, Corales has been immersed in the local and Chinese culture, drawing parallels with his own background and finding new inspirations. These all helped shape his winning cocktail, which shares a staple ingredient of both Chinese and Filipino cuisine: rice grains.
In the final, Corales presented “Tea Ceremony 125,” a reimagination of the classic “French 125” and paying tribute to his favorite childhood drink “Kapeng Bigas” – a non-caffeinated rice coffee, paired with Hennessy V.S.O.P. He blended this concept with China’s esteemed intangible cultural heritage “Long-Spout Copper Kettle Kung Fu Tea Dance,” which he discovered at MGM’s signature restaurant Five Foot Road, to create “Tea Ceremony 125.”
Before going to France for the November final, Corales will showcase his talent through guest shifts across Asia, bringing Macau’s cocktail culture to international audiences.
