Sands China hosted the “2026 MSO Sands China Cup – Inclusive Community Basketball Carnival,” drawing over 250 local residents. Participants included representatives from special education schools, community centers, residential care homes, and four secondary school basketball teams. Along with Sands Cares Ambassadors and Sands China basketball team members, they participated in basketball competitions and interactive games, fostering inclusion, mutual care, and social harmony between people with and without disabilities.
Co-organized by Sands China Ltd., Macau Special Olympics (MSO), and the University of Saint Joseph, the event was held successfully on September 13 at the University of Saint Joseph. It also served as a preview for the “NBA China Games 2026,” generating local enthusiasm for the international sporting event.
The carnival featured five main activities: the “Inclusive Basketball Interactive Zone,” the “MSO Basketball Technique Challenge,” the “MSO Sands China Inclusive Basketball Match,” the “2026 MSO Sands China Cup – Community Youth Basketball Tournament,” and a “Basketball Training Camp.”
In the Inclusive Basketball Match, Sands China basketball team members and Sands Cares Ambassadors teamed up with Special Olympics athletes, emphasizing teamwork and inclusivity. This experience helped the athletes boost confidence and enhance their skills ahead of the “2027 Special Olympics Summer World Championships” in Chile, where Macau’s athletes will compete alongside nearly 6,000 athletes worldwide. The match concluded with the “MSO Sands China Love Team” claiming victory.
The “2026 MSO Sands China Cup – Community Youth Basketball Tournament” also saw intense competition. Teams from Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College, Pui Va Middle School, Escola São Paulo, and Colégio Diocesano de São José 6 competed passionately. Ultimately, Escola São Paulo triumphed, winning the championship in a thrilling, high-energy finale. Ultimately, Escola São Paulo was crowned tournament champion amidst enthusiastic cheers and applause.
