2024 Q4: Welcome to the latest edition of our quarterly publication

Patriotism is playing a significant role in the diversification of Macau’s economy as we celebrate our region’s establishment as a Special Administrative Region. With the double anniversaries – marking 75 years of the People’s Republic of China and 25 years since Macau’s return – the spirit of patriotism is deeply woven into our economic and social development strategies, such as the government’s “1+4” plan.

The government is actively integrating national education into school curricula. For the 2024/2025 school year, initiatives include rolling out a newly revised curriculum framework, publishing supplementary materials for National Security Education, updating school guidelines and launching a Patriotic Education Camp. These efforts not only instill a sense of national pride in our youth but also prepare them to contribute effectively to Macau’s future as a diversified economic entity within the Greater Bay Area.

This patriotic spirit is evident in the cultural and educational events organized by local institutions. The Macau Higher Education Sector’s “Double Celebration Months” is a prime example, with over 60 events planned to enhance patriotic sentiment among students and educators. These initiatives highlight the importance of education and culture in fostering a strong patriotic foundation, essential for Macau to leverage its unique system and position within China.

In a recent address, our Chief Executive emphasized the importance of aligning with national development priorities. This alignment ensures that Macau remains stable and prosperous while capitalizing on the historical opportunities presented by national growth.

Patriotism is more than just a sentiment; it is a strategic pillar supporting Macau’s vision for economic diversification and sustainable development. It ensures our long-term prosperity and stability in a rapidly changing global environment.

This quarter, you will find a diverse array of activities and events designed to celebrate this dual anniversary with great enthusiasm. These initiatives reflect the deep-seated patriotism that is integral to Macau’s development and cultural identity. We hope you find the content enriching and enjoy exploring the many ways these celebrations honor Macau’s unique heritage and promising future. “Loving the Country, Loving Macau”.
