To celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, the Women’s General Association of Macau held a cocktail reception with the theme of “Outstanding Women Sharing Session.” The event promoted the spirit of women’s unity, paid tribute to women across Macau and supported women’s career development.
The cocktail reception was held at the Plaza Restaurant on Macau peninsula on the afternoon of 24 February. Macau’s Chief Executive, Ho Iat Seng; Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Edmund Ho Hau Wah; Head of the China Liaison Office of Macau, Zheng Xincong and Women’s General Association President, Lau Kam Ling attended the event, along with many other guests.
Ho Iat Seng said in his speech that the SAR government will continue to optimize the environment for women’s development and protect women’s legitimate rights and interests. “It is hoped that the Women’s General Association will closely unite women from all levels of Macau society, promote the feelings of family and patriotism, unite women’s power and promote the development and construction of the SAR.
“I hope that through this outstanding women’s sharing session, led by their deeds, we will encourage the majority of Macau women to contribute more actively to the society, strive for a better life and realize their ideals in life.”
Lau Kam Ling pointed out that the association will actively provide advice and suggestions to the SAR government and will protect the legitimate rights and interests of women and children. “This year, the Women’s General Association will expand the social and political foundation of women’s solidarity and patriotism and love for Macau and fully support the SAR government in governing according to law, and cooperate with the implementation of various women’s work and social governance affairs.”
