Sands China’s “Summer Fiesta” underway at historical former Iec Long Firecracker Factory and the Taipa Houses

  • Summer Fiesta is the latest initiative of Sands China’s revitalization series.
  • It aims to create a comfortable and pleasant urban oasis in Macau, highlighting the distinct garden ambiance and natural ecology of two locations.

Sands China is ushering in the summer with a flurry of activity at two iconic locations in Macau. The company is running its Summer Fiesta from 8 April to 31 May at the historical sites of the former Iec Long Firecracker Factory and the Taipa Houses, part of its ongoing community revitalization series.

For the duration of the two months, the former Iec Long Firecracker Factory has been transformed into the imaginative “Iec Long Zoo”, featuring a collection of lifelike animal installations designed to enchant visitors of all ages.  The site is also hosting several family-friendly activities such as balloon artistry and face painting during holiday periods, enhancing the leisure experience for local families and tourists alike.

Additionally, the romantic allure of Macau’s Sino-Portuguese quarter is being highlighted in “Love at Taipa Houses” from 10 April to 31 May. This includes a themed bench titled “Encounter Love” and a larger-than-life bouquet composed of dozens of fiberglass summer floral arrangements. To add to the visitor experience, resident photographers will be on hand at various times offering free instant photo services, capturing memories against the picturesque backdrop.

The activation extended into the arts with the fourth edition of the “Todos Fest!” held in late April at the former Iec Long Firecracker Factory. The festival featured a variety of events including performances, film screenings, rehabilitative workshops, a multimedia experience and an inclusive market. It united local and Hong Kong artists, local volunteers and community organizations, elderly people and individuals with physical and mental disabilities.

Sands China Executive Vice Chairman Dr Wilfred Wong stated, “With the romantic and vibrant new thematic installations, we hope to offer locals and tourists a fresh perspective of the historic community this early summer, while also energizing the diverse economic development of Macau.”

Sands China’s revitalization series includes the revitalization and optimization plan of the areas around the former Iec Long Firecracker Factory, the Taipa Houses, Pátio da Eterna Felicidade and Rua das Estalagens in cooperation with the Macau SAR government, as well as a diverse range of activities at Macao Cultural Centre Square.
