Sands China invites five Rua das Estalagens shops to team member food fest

  • Sands China hosted a food fest for its team members featuring signature foods and products from five SMEs under the Entrepreneurship Recruitment Programme for Rua das Estalagens.
  • Nearly 7,000 Sands China team members visited the food fest’s five culinary roadshows.

From 18 to 28 March, Sands China hosted a food fest for its team members at The Venetian Macao’s back-of-house dining room. The event featured five participating vendors from Sands China’s revitalization program, the “Community Revitalization Series – Entrepreneurship Recruitment Programme for Rua das Estalagens”, enabling nearly 7,000 employees to sample a variety of delicacies.

Launched in April 2024, the program attracted over 120 applications, resulting in the selection of seven distinctive business concepts – six of which have since opened on the historic street.

Culinary highlights included delicate egg tarts – original and curry beef flavored – from Cafe Fantart; creative Macau-Portuguese snacks such as bacalhau balls and spicy fish patties from Olálá; fragrant Ethiopian ice drip coffee from Catfee; mini pain au chocolat blending Japanese and French baking from Panpan; and bottled Thai milk tea and mango sticky rice from Voyage Thai Kitchen.

Dr Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd, said the program reflects the company’s dedication to supporting local entrepreneurs and fostering sustainable community growth. He added that complementary initiatives such as issuing SME discount vouchers at the recent “Sands China Macao International 10K” event have further helped increase brand visibility.

The revitalization program also includes cultural initiatives such as the publication of a bilingual booklet “In Search of Its Roots – An Illustrated History of Rua das Estalagens”, produced in partnership with the Macau Artist Society and a dedicated team of local professionals. The publication showcases the street’s rich history and community stories through narrative and illustration.

The program forms part of Sands China’s broader F.I.T. Programme and the Sands Resorts Incubation Centre, both designed to support local SMEs.
