The Emperor Qianlong’s “Culinary Journey to the South” – a culinary extravaganza created by Wynn – has returned this year with Huaiyang Master Chef Xue Quansheng recreating multiple imperial dishes based on the records of Emperor Qianlong’s “Royal Culinary Journey to the South”.
The extravaganza took place at Wynn Palace and saw Chef Xue use modern culinary techniques and culinary aesthetics to present a palace-style culinary feast that combined food and art.
The Emperor Qianlong’s “Culinary Journey to the South” was a collaborative effort between Wynn and Chef Xue, who ranks among China’s Top 10 Celebrity Chefs and is an inheritor of Yangzhou’s “Three Knives” – an intangible cultural heritage of Jiangsu Province.
For this event, Xue served as the guest head chef, collaborating with renowned chefs from mainland China and Jiangsu College of Tourism.
Inspired by the historical records of Emperor Qianlong’s “Royal Culinary Journey to the South”, they recreated an impressive array of 36 dishes for the Imperial Banquet by cleverly blending their modern culinary techniques and aesthetics.

In addition, the Wynn Food & Beverage Academy hosted a special The Emperor Qianlong’s “Culinary Journey to the South” masterclass, inviting Master Xue as instructor to share the subtleties of Huaiyang cuisine with over 20 members of the Wynn Food & Beverage Academy.
