Macau has an estimated 15,000 small and medium-sized enterprises, which make up 99% of Macau’s business population. SMEs play a pivotal role in the Macau economy as a key driver for economic growth and social prosperity, and represent one of Macau’s largest employer groups along with the SAR government and the concessionaires. SMEs will play an important role as Macau evolves into a smart city, cements its trading ties with Portuguese-speaking countries and integrates economically with the Greater Bay Area.
