Wynn, in a recent collaboration with Macau local SMEs, has initiated a recycling program for shredded playing cards used within its properties. The cards are sent to a Macau-based factory for recycling into raw materials for paper products.
Casinos typically do not reuse playing cards for efficiency and security reasons, opting instead to shred used cards. Wynn stated that this initiative aligns with its commitment to protecting the planet and fulfilling corporate social responsibility, which is also in line with the Macao SAR Government’s environmental policies on energy saving, carbon reduction and environmental protection, contributing to the sustainable development of the region. Wynn’s efforts to find innovative solutions for reducing plastic use are a part of this commitment.
This local recycling of shredded playing cards contributes to the reduction of urban solid waste, thereby easing the pressure on Macau’s waste incineration facilities. With this initiative, Wynn has become the first integrated resort operator in Macau to locally transform shredded playing cards from waste to resource.
For years, Wynn has been promoting innovative technologies, continuously implementing and enhancing various sustainable development strategies and programs. This includes pioneering efforts such as introducing the “Nordaq 2000” Refilling System to Macau, significantly reducing the use of plastic bottles at Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace.
Furthermore, Wynn also became the first to introduce “Winnow Vision”, a revolutionary food management technology that uses artificial intelligence to accurately monitor and manage food production to minimize kitchen waste.
