The 2025 Network Points Meeting – 10th Edition, organized by the Instituto Português do Oriente (IPOR), was held on 21 November in Macau. The event focused on the growing importance of digital literacy in foreign language education under the theme “Digital Skills and Intercultural Competence in Language Learning.” It gathered educators, researchers and professionals to share innovative approaches that integrate technology into teaching practices.

The discussions emphasized that language learning today goes beyond grammar and vocabulary. Participants highlighted how digital resources have enhanced authentic interaction and communication, fostering intercultural understanding. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) were presented as powerful tools offering access to diverse and realistic learning materials, enriching students’ awareness of global cultures and communication styles.

The discussions also explained that digital literacy involves much more than simply using technology. It encompasses the ability to navigate, evaluate and produce information critically and ethically while maintaining digital security and promoting responsible technology use. By cultivating these abilities, teachers help students develop analytical thinking, autonomy and digital confidence – skills essential for success in the 21st century.

EPR 2025 explored three main areas: the role of digital literacy in language education, digital tools for teaching and learning Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PLE) and pedagogical approaches that promote meaningful interaction. Delegates discussed how digital competence strengthens 21st century teaching and learning.
Hosted successfully by IPOR, the 2025 Network Points Meeting served as a key platform for collaboration across cultures and disciplines, reinforcing shared commitments to innovation in foreign language education.
