After Super Typhoon “Ragasa” impacted Macau, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, through its “Simple Acts of Kindness” initiative, mobilized nearly 100 Melco volunteers alongside community partners to assist affected communities and SMEs with post-typhoon cleanup, helping those affected restore normal life.
In Southern District, 30 Melco volunteers collaborated with the Macao Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM) to assist residents and SME businesses impacted by the flooding. Volunteers helped return displaced items, remove garbage and debris, and restore safe and clean environments.
In Praia do Manduco, Melco partnered with the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM) to distribute meal boxes to local community members affected by power outages caused by flooding, including the elderly.
In Coloane Coastal Areas, Melco volunteers alongside FAOM supported residents and SMEs with cleanup, securing loose fixtures and providing handyman services.
At Coloane’s Asilo Vila Madalena Elderly Center, Melco volunteers cleared the garden, removed fallen trees, recovered displaced furniture and ensured a safe, comfortable environment for elderly residents.
And at Anima Macau, Melco’s volunteers cleaned up fallen trees and debris to restore a safe, clean environment for the animals.
Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco, said, “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by Super Typhoon ‘Ragasa’. We are deeply thankful to our volunteers for their dedication and compassion in helping to resettle the community in the aftermath.
“We are committed to supporting and reaching out to those in need – whether through our valued community partners or directly when required. We will continue to stand by Macau’s community whenever and wherever help is needed.”
