Melco Resorts & Entertainment supported the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO)’s push to expand international markets by participating in the “Journey to Experience Macao” mega roadshow in Tokyo’s bustling Akihabara district from 17 to 20 April. The initiative was designed to spark Japanese interest in Macau as a travel destination, positioning Japan as a key visitor source market for the SAR.
Organized by the MGTO, the four-day event showcased the dynamic “tourism +” appeal of Macau, featuring a special “Macau tourism pop-up zone” in the heart of Akihabara.
Visitors were able to explore elements of anime culture, take advantage of exclusive travel offers, discover limited-edition co-branded merchandise and pick up unique souvenirs featuring “MAK MAK” – Macau’s official tourism mascot. The roadshow aimed to create a vibrant and immersive environment, reinforcing Japanese audiences’ desire to experience Macau first-hand.
Melco’s participation focused on drawing Japanese travellers to Macau by highlighting its world-class tourism, leisure and entertainment offerings at its flagship properties, City of Dreams and Studio City. A special highlight of Melco’s offering is the highly anticipated return of “House of Dancing Water”, the iconic aquatic show at City of Dreams, with the roadshow providing exclusive previews of this visually stunning production.
By engaging Japanese audiences with tailored experiences and travel packages, Melco aims to strengthen Macau’s presence in Japan and encourage more visitors to discover the city’s unique charm.
In addition to destination presentations, a travel mart, visits and exchanges, the roadshow forms part of a series of offline activities targeting various groups in Japan.
