- The Orbis Raffle Charity Street Sale will be held on 17 May.
- This event is the highlight of Orbis Macau’s annual program to support sight-saving efforts for children around the world.
Orbis Macau will hold an Orbis Raffle Charity Street Sale from 17 May to support Orbis’s global children’s pediatric sight-saving programs and provide appropriate eye care services and treatments to children in low- and middle-income countries who lack access to healthcare resources, thus helping them regain their sight.
The event will be held in Taipa between Flower City Park and Central Park on Saturday 17 May before moving to Horta E Costa for the charity street sale on Sunday 18 May. It will relocate to Hac Sa Van Park and Yau Han Market with the Orbis booth on Sunday 22 June.
Sponsored by more than 20 organizations, the charity raffle offers 97 prizes worth more than MOP430,000, including five-star hotel accommodation, dining and spa experiences, round-trip air tickets, cash vouchers, electronic products and eye examination services. Each raffle ticket costs only MOP10 and the purchase of a raffle ticket not only helps needy children with eye diseases but also gives them the chance to win great prizes.
According to Orbis, 90 million children and adolescents around the world are visually impaired – 90% of whom live in medically underserved areas where eye care and treatment are scarce. Missing the golden opportunity for treatment can lead to permanent vision impairment or blindness.
Healthy vision is critical to a child’s physical and mental development and improving their eye health will help them grow and learn happily. Over the years, Orbis has worked with more than 400 volunteer ophthalmology teams to provide sustainable training to ophthalmologists in these areas to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
