  • The second season of “Galaxy Entertainment Group Presents: We Are Macau Athletes” has officially kicked off.
  • Twelve local athletes will visit schools and communities to share their experiences of striving for success.

Title sponsored by Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”), organized by the Macau Sports Channel and supported by the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Sports Bureau of the Macau SAR Government, the second season of “Galaxy Entertainment Group Presents: We Are Macau Athletes” will take place from July this year to March next year. The event kicked off on 29 June with an opening ceremony and sports carnival at the Indoor Pavilion of Taipa Olympic Sports Centre.

The event was officiated by distinguished guests, including Bai Bing, Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Luís Gomes, President of the Sports Bureau; Chan Iok Wai, Head of Department of Students from Education and Youth Development Bureau; Ma Chi Seng, Secretary-General of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China; marking the official launch of the new season.

After the opening ceremony, many local athletes joined forces with spectators and GEG Staff Social Club members to participate in the sports carnival and challenge various sports games, creating a lively atmosphere. The event aims to bring the public closer to local athletes, help them understand their fighting spirit and warm up for the 15th National Games of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao – to be held from November to December this year.

Buddy Lam, Director of Corporate Affairs of GEG, said that GEG has been actively supporting local sports for many years and is committed to promoting the sustainable development of sports. This year, GEG is once again title sponsor of the event, hoping to build the platform together with the organizer to promote a positive image of athletes and the spirit of sports, inspiring the younger generation to engage in sporting activities.

Lei Sao Keong, editor-in-chief of Macau Sports Channel, also expressed that the event offers an excellent platform for Macau’s athletes. It helps more citizens become familiar with them, and by sharing their personal experiences in schools and communities, athletes can inspire young people, spread positive energy, and guide them toward establishing the right values early in life.

Building on the success of the first season, the second season sees 12 local athletes invited to participate, including karate athlete Kuok Kin Hang, wushu proponent Huang Jun Hua and footballer Leong Ka Hang. They will continue to visit schools to share their experiences of hard work and, for the first time, visit communities to show their care and give back to society in collaboration with GEG’s volunteer team and the Jinan Eternal Love Medical Volunteers Association.
