The events attracted local fashion designers, students and industry professionals, injecting innovative and environmentally-minded concepts into Macau’s fashion sector.

The inaugural lecture, held online on 1 July, featured Dr Angie Lee as keynote speaker. She is an expert in promoting sustainable fashion across Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.

As Founding Vice-Chair of the SFAA Foundation Limited and Ambassador for Global Sustainable Fashion Week (GSFW), Angie shared international market trends and innovative practices in sustainable fashion, demonstrating how eco-conscious design can unlock commercial opportunities. She further inspired local designers by showcasing a successful case study of a British designer integrating into the global market.

The second lecture took place on 16 August at Macau’s 369Co-opTown, featuring Ms Jane Ng, founder of Hong Kong’s independent fashion brand Phenotypsetter. She shared the creative process and practical experience of upcycling design. An interactive workshop was also held, where participants created new products from old denim jeans, experiencing first-hand the joy of resource recycling.

The two lectures attracted approximately 50 attendees, aiming to propel Macau’s fashion industry towards sustainable and innovative development. Furthermore, MFDIA will host a members’ fashion show on the closing day of this year’s 30th Macau International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF). This event will showcase emerging designers’ creative works through an “Old-timers Mentor Newcomers” approach, further promoting local fashion concepts.
