A devastating fire at Tai Po Wang Fuk Court in Hong Kong last Wednesday claimed the lives of many residents and one firefighter, shocking the international community. Following the incident, Francis Lui, Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group and K. Wah Group, immediately extended assistance to those affected, with K. Wah Group collectively donating HK$10 million.

To help those affected through this difficult time, the Group announced a donation of HK$10 million to support the victims, of which HK$7 million will be donated by K. Wah Group and HK$3 million will be donated by Lui himself. The funds aim to provide immediate financial assistance to families affected by the fire, alleviating urgent hardship and supporting them in rebuilding their lives.

Lui stated, “While fire is merciless, there is love and compassion among people. We are deeply saddened to learn of the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, which has caused many residents to lose their homes.

“Through this donation, we hope to provide some timely support to the affected neighbors, doing our part to help them cope with the immediate challenges. We stand together with the community and sincerely wish all those affected an early recovery from this tragedy and a return to normal life.”
K. Wah Group said it extends its profound condolences to the residents and firefighter who lost their lives in the incident, and its heartfelt sympathy to all affected residents and their families. In addition, the K.Wah Construction Materials Volunteer Team also acted swiftly following the fire, dispatching 17 members to Tai Po Community Centre and Transitional Housing Project – Tai Po “Good House” to assist with the transportation and distribution of supplies, providing essential daily necessities to those affected. The Group prepared over 400 sets of shampoo and shower gel as a gesture of care.
