  • The 2025 Sands China Asian Youth Elite Fencing League – Macao drew nearly 1,300 young fencers from Macau, the Greater Bay Area and around the world.
  • A training camp saw international fencing professionals mentor young fencers.

Co-organized by Sands China Ltd and Asia Sports Development Limited, the 2025 Sands China Asian Youth Elite Fencing League – Macao wrapped up on Sunday, with awards presented the same day. The event drew a record number of registrations, bringing together nearly 1,300 young fencers from Macau, the Greater Bay Area and around the world. The athletes demonstrated strong technical ability, determination and sportsmanship on the piste.

Held from 26 to 28 December at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo, the three-day competition followed the 2025 Sands China Future Champions Fencing Camp held from 21 to 25 December.

Young fencers aged 6 to 14 competed in foil, épée and sabre, representing the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

New categories were introduced this year, including individual events for the U6 age group and team events for the U8 and U12 age groups, expanding participation and encouraging more young athletes to take part.

With fencing gaining popularity in Hong Kong and Macau in recent years, the Asian Youth Elite Fencing League debuted in Hong Kong in 2023 and has since been held in Macau with the support of the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Macao Government Tourism Office.

Over the preceding five-day camp,  a lineup of international fencing professionals mentored fencers aged 9 to 20.

Sands China also organized Sands Cares Presents: Community Sharing by Champion Fencers – Lei Sheng & Deng Xiaohao on 27 December, inviting Lei Sheng, gold medallist in men’s foil at the 2012 London Olympics, and Deng Xiaohao, double gold medallist in men’s sabre (individual and team) at the 2021 National Games, to share championship insights and professional techniques to help elevate the level of fencing in Macau.

Sands China said its support of the Asian Youth Elite Fencing League is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts and its promotion of “tourism + sport”.
