Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) is using music as a bridge by presenting a three-week series of music and cultural exchange festivities running from late January to mid-February. Through these initiatives, GEG aims to foster cultural and artistic interaction across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and beyond, while showcasing Macau’s charm as “One Base” for cultural exchange and cooperation with Chinese culture at its core and multicultural coexistence.

As the opening event of the series, the “Co-presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group – The 6th Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Young Artist Music Week” officially opened on 29 January at Broadway Theatre and the event continued at the Galaxy International Convention Center and Broadway Theatre with a packed program, including the national grand finals, masterclasses, a music education summit and the closing ceremony. GEG strongly supported the Music Week through its “GEG Venue Partnership Pilot Program”, leveraging world-class venues and advanced facilities to promote the young music talent exchange among the Greater Bay Area.

The Music Week concluded successfully on 2 February. As one of the region’s large-scale youth music and cultural events, it attracted more than 10,000 young music talents from the Greater Bay Area, cities across China and overseas to participate in preliminary competitions. Nearly 2,000 young musicians, together with artists and educators, gathered in Macau to take part in the national grand finals, masterclasses and the music education summit, promoting learning and exchange through competition and professional dialogue.
The event showcased Macau’s charm as “One Base” for cultural exchange and cooperation with Chinese culture at its core.
2026 YMCG makes its debut in Macau
Following the Young Artist Music Week, the highly anticipated annual music event “Youth Music Culture the Greater Bay Area” (YMCG) made its debut in Macau with the strong support of GEG. The “Galaxy Entertainment Group Presents: 2026 YMCG” was held on 7, 10 and 11 February at the Galaxy International Convention Center, featuring a chamber music concert, masterclasses and “Music + Talk” artistic dialogues. Renowned maestros and rising young talents from around the world joined the Macau program, bringing performance and exchange together to promote international cultural interaction and youth talent development.

Approved by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, YMCG was founded by Maestro Yu Long, Conductor and Chairman of the China Musicians Association’s League of China Orchestras, who also serves as Chairman of the Artistic Committee of YMCG. This year, the event was hosted by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, with GEG as the co-organizer of the Macau series. The program was co-presented across the Greater Bay Area by Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Xinghai Concert Hall of Guangdong, and Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, with support from the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Macao Orchestra.

On the evening of 10 February, under the leadership of Maestro Yu Long, YMCG Music Director and internationally renowned conductor Daniel Harding joined world-famous mezzo-soprano Karen Cargill and musicians from around the world, including outstanding musicians from the Macao Orchestra, to present a high-level chamber music concert at Galaxy Auditorium. The performance marked a memorable moment for international musical and cultural exchange across the Greater Bay Area.

In addition, GEG invited members of the Bosco Youth Service Network to attend the event, supporting efforts to broaden the cultural horizons of local youth.
