Wynn organizes SME partnership meetings and showcases green initiatives at MIECF

  • Wynn organized a business co-operation seminar at MIECF, attracting nearly 300 SMEs to participate.
  • Wynn’s total purchases from local SMEs increased by nearly 50% in 2024.

Wynn recently organized the “Wynn Local SME Procurement Partnership Meeting and Sustainable Development and Healthy SME Partners Recognition Ceremony” as part of the Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum and Exhibition (MIECF).

MIECF is an annual environmental event organized by the Macao SAR Government.

The ceremony, as well as an exhibit showcasing Wynn’s latest green initiatives and health projects, attracted close to 300 local SMEs to promote the vision of “A Greener Future, A Happier Macau”.

The event was held on 27 March and was attended by representatives from the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, the Macao Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute, the Macao Economic and Technology Development Bureau, the Environmental Protection Bureau and other government departments as well as industrial and commercial organizations.

Wynn also announced the results of the second phase of the “SME Equipment Improvement Program”, which provides equipment upgrading support to a new batch of enterprises to help them incorporate environmental protection concepts into their operations and enhance their business performance.

Figures show that Wynn’s total purchases from local SMEs in 2024 increased by nearly 50% year-on-year, with a 45% increase in purchases from micro and small enterprises, Macau manufacturing and youth entrepreneurs, reflecting the continued enhancement of the competitiveness of local enterprises.

The design of the Wynn exhibition area at MIECF incorporated the concept of the circular economy, with hotel carpet remnants, recycled floral fibreboard and recycled lai see packets used to create an eco-friendly display wall. It also showcased the results of Pui Ching Middle School’s iGEM project, sponsored by Wynn for the fifth consecutive year. At Wynn’s booth, the school’s team demonstrated their creativity in using cell wall-degrading enzymes to efficiently upcycle fruit and flower waste into essential oils, encouraging local environmental creativity and community rejuvenation.

To promote green living, Wynn invited local green groups and cultural and creative small enterprises to organize workshops on 28 and 29 March at MIECF, encouraging the public to participate in making handicrafts and blending essential oils. In addition to sustainable development, Wynn said it attaches great importance to the health of its staff and the public and has therefore established a professional health support system in the company’s back office. This includes registered doctors, dieticians and physiotherapists providing 24-hour psychological counselling as well as self-service health checkers. In addition, Wynn Palace is home to Macau’s first medical center dedicated to physiotherapy at a spa, which is available to the public.

Wynn brought the aforementioned professional health services to the exhibition site where it offered the services to promote the concept of healthy living. Registered physiotherapists and dietitians provided guidance and advice to participants to promote the importance of healthy living.

Wynn’s presence at MIECF was well received and saw close to 300 local SMEs registering for bookings. This represented a significant increase over last year’s record, reflecting SME demand for market expansion.

Since 2016, Wynn has been actively organizing sourcing and co-operation fairs to promote the sustainable development of local SMEs. The company said it will in future continue to promote a green corporate culture and work closely with the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute to create more trade opportunities for SMEs, promote the appropriate diversification and sustainable development of the Macau economy and bring a richer mode of economic growth to the community.
