The British Chamber of Commerce in Macao (Britcham), with the generous support of the Association of Huizhou Compatriots in Macao, organized a two-day Greater Bay Area Study Tour to Huizhou from 23 to 24 May. As one of the nine cities within Guangdong Province’s thriving economic cluster, Huizhou provided participants with valuable insights into regional development.
The tour, titled “Unlock Huizhou’s Gems: Exclusive GBA Joint Immersive Learning Initiative”, aimed to promote business exchange and cultural understanding and saw participants visit local enterprises and well-known scenic spots.
The tour was co-ordinated by Saj Fernando, Executive Director of Britcham Macao, and received by Zhong Yonglan, Executive Deputy Director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Huizhou Municipal Committee and Director of Huizhou Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau; Zhong Liang, Director of the Culture, Media, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Huizhou Municipality; and Luo Lin, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of Huizhou Youth Federation of Overseas Chinese.
The tour began at Biel Crystal Limited Company, a global leader in smart device solutions specializing in high-tech structural modules. The delegation then visited TCL Industrial Holdings Co Ltd to explore its operations.
It also visited Huizhou China-Korea Industrial Park and the Greater Bay Area Green Agricultural Production and Supply Base, which transforms fresh produce into ready-to-eat meals, highlighting Huizhou’s green agriculture innovations. The tour then explored cultural landmarks, including Su Dongpo Memorial Temple and Shuidong Street, immersing participants in the region’s rich heritage. A highlight was the temple, honoring the famed Song Dynasty poet and statesman.
Britcham chair Eileen Stow said the 20-member tour group witnessed the successful blending of Hakka culture with Western influences and thanked the locals for their warm hospitality.
Britcham Macao said it plans to organize regular visits to Greater Bay Area cities, ensuring members stay informed on the latest developments. These initiatives will provide valuable opportunities to learn from emerging industries, strengthen regional connections and explore potential business collaborations.
