• Since 2022, the Youth Association of People has been organizing the “Youth Community Walk” activity, visiting various districts in Macau.
• Participants visited the seven buildings in Iao Hon Estate where they observed the structural problems of old buildings and communicated with residents.

To encourage young people in Macau to pay attention to community development and related policies, the Youth Association of People has been organizing the “Youth Community Walk” since 2022. The event has covered areas such as Iao Hon Estate, Pátio do Espinho, Seac Pai Van, Coloane and Ka Ho Village. It aims to lead young people deep into the community to understand the current livelihood situation and cultivate a sense of social responsibility.

The event adopts a “field visit + seminar discussion” format. Through mentors explaining the community’s economic structure, historical changes and livelihood issues, young people gain a comprehensive understanding. During the subsequent discussion session, participants combine their observations to discuss topics such as policy implementation and community resources, sparking innovative thinking.

In previous activities, the Youth Association of People organized a visit to the seven buildings in Iao Hon Estate where participants observed structural issues in old buildings and interacted with residents, gaining a deep understanding of the contradictions between the slow progress of urban renewal and residents’ needs, and recognizing the importance and urgency of urban renewal.

Additionally, participants visited historical landmarks such as the Lai Chi Vun Village and Rua de Felicidade Street, where they learned about the revitalization of industrial sites and the integration of culture and commerce. They also considered how to balance the preservation of historical and cultural heritage with the enhancement of economic vitality.

This event not only provided young people with a practical platform to participate in social development but also cultivated their ability to analyze issues and offer constructive suggestions, thereby nurturing a new generation of young people with a sense of community and creativity for the future of Macau.
