The final round and award ceremony of the first “Macao Inter-School Speech Competition”, organized by the Macau Professional Speaking Association, were recently held. The event, sponsored by the Education and Youth Development Bureau, aimed to enhance students’ soft skills, overall competence and confidence, fostering their diverse development.

The preliminary round, themed “The Continuation of an Era”, took a team competition format and attracted participants from 15 schools. Each school sent three students to deliver speeches on the theme, demonstrating their deep understanding of the topic and team spirit.

The Inter-School Cup Prepared Speech Contest was held on the day of the award ceremony with the theme “The Next Ten Years Through My Eyes”. The 10 advancing students showcased the strong imagination of Macau’s youth, presenting their visions of the world 10 years from now from various perspectives, reflecting their boundless dreams and aspirations for the future.

The Inter-School Cup Impromptu Speech Contest also took place on the same day, revolving around four major themes, namely Patriotism and Love for Macau, Daring to Dream, Strength in Adversity, and Moral Standards. Competitors demonstrated quick thinking and delivered speeches full of positive energy within the limited preparation time.

In her speech, the president of the association, Ms Maggie Chan, stated that the successful organization of the inaugural speech competition could not have been achieved without the strong support of the government, schools and all sectors of society. The association hopes that the second edition of the competition next year will be even more spectacular, attracting more schools to participate, further promoting the popularization and appreciation of speech culture, and benefiting more students.
