  • Over the past 21 years, Sands China has invested more than MOP 134.5 billion in Macau.

Sands China announced that, as of 28 August, the cumulative visitor count across its five integrated resorts in Macau has exceeded 1.1 billion, marking a significant milestone in the company’s development within the region.

Over the past 21 years, Sands China has invested over MOP134.5 billion in Macau, continuously supporting the city’s development as a world tourism and leisure center. To celebrate this milestone, the Group presented exclusive privileges to the 1.1 billionth visitor, adding an element of surprise to their Cotai Strip experience.

Dr Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd, stated, “Surpassing 1.1 billion arrivals is not only a significant milestone for the company, but also a testament to the popularity of Macau’s tourism offerings and the vitality and sustainability of its economic development.”

He added that this achievement was made possible through the guidance and support of the Central Government and the Macao SAR Government, alongside the collective efforts of the company’s 27,000 employees and over 2,500 suppliers.

“We will continue to work alongside Macau and invest in non-gaming projects to polish further its ‘golden business card’ as an international metropolis, showcasing its unique charm to both residents and visitors from around the world,” Dr Wong said.

Sands China opened its first property, Sands Macao, in 2004, ushering in a new chapter for the local tourism industry.

In 2007 it unveiled The Venetian Macao, the world’s second-largest building at that time, and progressively developed The Plaza Macao, Sands Cotai Central (now upgraded to The Londoner Macao) and The Parisian Macao along Cotai Strip, cementing its prominence in the integrated resort industry.

Sands China’s properties currently offer over 10,000 hotel rooms, 150 dining options, 760 retail outlets, and 150,000 square meters of convention and exhibition space, alongside two arenas and four theaters, with a total seating capacity of over 25,000.
