  • SJM hosted a series of CSR activities between July and September to enrich the lives of its team members and the wider community.
  • The activities included a series of patriotic education initiatives to pass on the love for the Country and Macau to future generations.

SJM Resorts S.A. has showcased its efforts to enrich and leisure and cultural lives of its team members, and to address the needs of all levels of society via a series of activities held between July and September 2025. These activities spanned education, youth development, care for the elderly and disadvantaged, as well as other charitable initiatives.

SJM actively organizes patriotic-themed activities to nurture the spirit of “Love the Motherland, Love Macau” among its team members and their families.

SJM hosts the “Telling China’s Stories” Family Workshop

In commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, several visits by senior management and staff members were organised to the themed exhibition titled “For National Liberation and World Peace”, hosted by the Macao SAR Government and supported by the Commemorative Museum of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Through the exhibition’s historical narrative and precious archival materials, team members gained a deeper understanding of the War of Resistance, felt the indomitable national spirit of their forebears and were inspired to carry that resilience into their daily lives and work.

To honour this moving chapter of history, SJM held an exclusive employee screening of Dead to Rights on 30 August. Through the film’s emotionally powerful visual storytelling, team members were transported into those turbulent years, and reflecting on the nation’s past hardships. The experience aimed to further strengthen their heartfelt commitment to remembering history, cherishing peace and perpetuating patriotic values.

In addition, SJM hosted the SJM Patriotic Sharing Session at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, led by Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM. The session was graced by the presence of Ho Sut Heng, President of the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM), and Lee Chong Cheng, Chairperson of FAOM, who engaged with team members, sharing insights on national affairs and fostering a deeper emotional connection with the motherland.

Furthermore, SJM is committed to promoting patriotic education among its team members and facilitating their participation in the “2025 Patriotism and Love for Macau Carnival,” held on 23 August. During the carnival, nearly 30 team members passionately performed “My People, My Country” on stage, expressing their fervent patriotic sentiments through songs.

SJM visited the Exhibition of the War of Resistance

SJM, through its Staff Welfare Consultative Committee of SJM organised a “Telling China’s Stories” Family Workshop for employees in July. A total of 25 employee families actively participated in the workshop.

The workshop was rich in content with instructors sharing China’s long history, including highlights from past National Games and the remarkable journey of the national table tennis team. It also introduced the unique aspects of this year’s National Games, co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau for the first time.

SJM’s CSR activities spanned education, youth development, care for the elderly and disadvantaged, as well ascharitable initiatives.

Following two successful “My Motherland GBA Tour” events held in Zhuhai in March and June, SJM completed a third tour, titled “A Family Academic Tour to Shenzhen,” on 31 July. This initiative received enthusiastic support from 45 participating team members and their families.

Youth education and talent development
SJM held the 21st SJM Scholarship Award Ceremony at the Grand Ballroom of Grand Lisboa Macau, presenting a total of MOP 730,000 in scholarships to 36 outstanding children of employees. The ceremony was attended by Daisy Ho as well as Angela Leong, Director of SJM and Chairman of the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee; Rui Cunha, Secretary-General of SJM; and Daniel Shim, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of SJM, among other guests. They joined the parents in sharing the joy of the award recipients, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.

The SJM Scholarship Award

In collaboration with the Macao University of Tourism, the Company has launched the SJM “Forge My Own Journey” Development Programme. Sixty-four students from the inaugural cohort assembled at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau for the SJM “Forge My Own Journey” Development Programme Activation Ceremony, embarking on their education journey intertwined with vocational training.

Committed to fostering the holistic development of Macau’s younger generation, the 2025 “SJM Employees’ Children Summer Programme” was launched in late July, delivering a total of 46 classes – a 15% increase from the previous year – and attracting over 850 participants, reflecting strong 30% year-on-year growth and demonstrating enthusiastic engagement.

SJM also participated in the “2025 International Cities of Gastronomy Fest Macao” to showcase Macau’s reputation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy to both residents and tourists.  This gastronomic and cultural event highlighted the region’s culinary excellence.

In early August, 20 youths from the Salvation Army Macau Social Service Centre were invited to visit Don Alfonso 1890 at Grand Lisboa Palace Macau, where professional baristas taught coffee brewing and latte art. They also attended a workshop with SJM team members sharing interview skills and resume tips, boosting their confidence and understanding of the interview process.

More recently, SJM invited nearly 20 young participants from the Young Men’s Christian Association of Macau – Organic Teens and the TEEN’s Youth Integrated Service Centre of the Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service of Macau to visit “GLP Arte” at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau. They took part in a light clay mirror workshop themed “The Adventures of ALICE @ Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau”.

Charity Events: Bringing warmth to the communityThe Excellence Staff Center of SJM provides full support to the Macau Special Olympics (MSO) Internship Programme. The “Train First, Intern Later” program recently took place from April to July at the Hong On store of the Excellence Staff Center. The internship included tasks such as product explanations, merchandise display, inventory management and store cleaning. Over the months, the SJM volunteer team visited Blissful, Centro de Auxilio Comunitario para Portadores de Deficiencia Intelectual de Macau Special Olympics in July, interacting with the center’s members, creating a joyful atmosphere.

In early July, SJM invited over 20 families from the Centro de Serviços Integrados de Apoio à Família — Fonte de Alegria e de Energia to enjoy a sea cruise from the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal to the A-Ma Pier and a group tour to the Maritime Museum, together with SJM team members. Participants, then, took part in a workshop titled “Karma of Oyster and Sea Creatures: Painting Workshop” , making the day both educational and enjoyable.

SJM subsequently hosted another round of “Give Blood, Give Love” at the Jai Alai Oceanus on 23 and 24 July. In total, SJM has organized five blood donation events, showcasing its commitment to supporting the community.

In June this year, SJM collaborated with the Macao New Chinese Youth Association to launch the “Silver Age Health Promotion Programme”. The initiative included Health Talks and Health Training Courses, with support from the Health Bureau of Macau. The first session of the Health Carnival took place on 7 August at The Leisure Area in Edf. Lok Yeung Fa Yuen. Nearly 500 citizens attended the event.

Since 2024, SJM and the Macau Holy House of Mercy have collaboratively organized the “My ElderFriend Programme”, an initiative aimed at fostering friendships between the elderly residents of the Macau Holy House of Mercy’s nursing homes and the SJM volunteer team.

Recently, SJM invited the Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service of Macau and the Macau Autism Association to set up charity sale booths in the staff area of the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau. The initiative allowed SJM team members to support social organisations through direct purchases, fostering a better understanding of these groups and helping to build an inclusive community.

SJM donated over 200 new popular science children’s books to Cradle of Hope Association of Macau, Lok To Village Young Men’s Christian Association of Macau, and Lar De Nossa Senhora Da Penha of Caritas Macau during the 2025 summer holidays, along with used children’s books and toys collected from SJM team members. This effort not only gives used materials a new lease of life but also promotes environmental awareness. SJM remains committed to organising diverse activities and actively supporting the development of children across Macau.
