As part of its commitment to promoting sports development and supporting the Macao SAR Government’s vision of building a “City of Sports”, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has title sponsored the recent flagship event “Galaxy Entertainment Group Presents: ‘National Gold Medalists Visit to Macau – Chinese Diving Team Gala and Vitality Walk 2025’”, promoting sports culture and urban vitality. GEG has supported this flagship event since 2013, and served as a title sponsor for the second consecutive year.

The three-day sporting extravaganza, which ran from 12 to 14 December, marks the Chinese national diving team’s first visit to Macau since 2017. Led by head coach Zhou Jihong and coach Chen Ruolin, the delegation featured multiple Olympic gold medalists and world champions, including Chen Yiwen, Chang Yani, Lian Junjie, Chen Yuxi, Wang Zongyuan, Zhang Minjie, Lu Wei, Chen Jia, Lin Shan, Zheng Jiuyuan, Hu Yukang, Zhu Zifeng and Bai Yuming. This contingent, representing the highest level of diving in the world, once again delivered a visually stunning and spiritually uplifting experience to Macau.

Centered on “sports exchange” while integrating educational, cultural and philanthropic elements, the entire series also fostered the integrated development of Macau’s “tourism + sports” initiative. Jointly organized by the Sports Olympic Committee of Macau, China, the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Associação de Amizade de Membros da Conferência Consultiva Política do Povo Chinês na Instância de Província de Macau, the event also counted the Swimming Association of Macao, China as co-organizer, and GEG as title sponsor.

To extend a warm welcome, GEG specially arranged for the national diving team to stay at Andaz Macau. A grand welcome ceremony was held upon the delegation’s arrival, while Hong Kong Hin – a service center affiliated with the Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau – presented flowers in a heartwarming and touching moment.

The highlight of the series of events took place on the evening of 12 December, when the “National Diving Dream Team Gala” made its debut at the Macau Olympic Aquatic Centre. The star-studded event featured world-class athletes including Chang Yani, Chen Yiwen, Lian Junjie, Chen Yuxi and Wang Zongyuan, who performed alongside Macau’s diving and synchronized swimming athletes. Through demanding springboard and platform dives combined with elegant aquatic choreography, they showcased the perfect fusion of professional skill and artistic beauty.

The appearance of diving legends Wu Minxia, Chen Aisen and He Chong sent the crowd into raptures. Throughout the performance, the “Dream Team” not only demonstrated fundamental training techniques but also showcased high-difficulty maneuvers typically reserved for international competitions. Incorporating artistic diving segments, the show delivered both spectacular visual appeal and entertainment value, earning thunderous applause from the audience.

The “National Diving Dream Team Gala” drew over 1,200 spectators, creating an electrifying atmosphere. The opening ceremony commenced at 7:30pm, with a distinguished gathering of guests including Qiu Yu, Minister of the Coordination Department of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Zhou Jihong, the national diving “Dream Team” head coach; Ma Chi Seng, President of Associação de Amizade de Membros da Conferência Consultiva Política do Povo Chinês na Instância de Província de Macau, Secretary-General of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China; Lei Si Ling, Acting Director of the Sports Bureau; Francis Lui, Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group; Mok Chi Hang, Deputy Director of the Sports Bureau; and Buddy Lam, Director of Corporate Affairs of GEG.

During the opening ceremony, Ma and Lui delivered speeches on behalf of the organizing body and title sponsor respectively. Additional messages of support and congratulations were conveyed via video address.

A series of community activities
Beyond the spectacular gala, a series of activities unfolded concurrently throughout the week. On the morning of 12 December, the national gold medalists joined CPPCC members for a school outreach activity, visiting the Yiu Tung Building of Macao University of Tourism , Pui Ching Middle School (Coloane Campus) and Keang Peng Secondary School. They engaged in face-to-face exchanges with students, sharing their journeys of perseverance and success.

The organizers said they hoped this series of activities would instill a sense of national pride in Macau’s youth, promote sporting values and foster a sense of responsibility and mission, thereby playing a positive role in the holistic development of young people.

The Galaxy team joined several national gold medal athletes in the “42nd Walk for a Million”

The following day, on 13 December, the delegation visited the Macao Grand Prix Museum. Beyond learning about Macau’s motor racing culture, the national gold athletes exchanged insights on sporting spirit and interacted closely with students from Tung Sin Tong Secondary School who are specially invited by GEG, experiencing the unique appeal of “sport + tourism”.

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) noted that continuously promoting the integration of sports and culture enhances Macau’s international image while deepening public understanding of diverse sporting activities. The gold medalists also visited the Forum de Macau, which served as one of the venues for the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games, and showed support for the Special Olympics athletes.  They held exchanges with around 200 members of the Macao Youth Federation, where Su Bingtian shared reflections on his retirement.

The 42nd Walk for a Million

The final event day took place on 14 December, where the national gold medalists participated in the “42nd Walk for a Million”, along with GEG’s Lui and Lam plus other guests to promote the spirit of charity and spread positive energy throughout society. This year also marked GEG’s 22nd consecutive year supporting the Walk for a Million, promoting the values of charity to community, with the participation of over 2,000 team members and their families.

More than just a sporting spectacle, the “Galaxy Entertainment Group Presents: ‘National Gold Medalists Visit to Macau – Chinese Diving Team Gala and Vitality Walk 2025’” successfully forged close sports-related exchanges in the community, supporting Macau’s vision as a “City of Sports”.
