Continuing its support for Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop, Sands China Ltd donated MOP 300,000 on 7 February, contributing to the charitable organization and its community and charitable services for the 14th consecutive year.

On the same day, Sands Cares Ambassadors assisted the Welfare Shop in distributing Chinese New Year food hampers to local families in need, sharing festive blessings and warmth ahead of the holiday.
The Welfare Shop has been in operation since 2013, providing monthly distributions of food and daily necessities to families facing financial hardship. To date, it has benefitted thousands of households, helping ease their day-to-day living expenses.

This year’s Chinese New Year food hampers contained staple items such as rice, noodles, biscuits, canned food, cooking oil, toothpaste and shower gel, with the aim of reducing beneficiaries’ financial burden. To mark the upcoming Chinese New Year, Sands China also presented each family with festive gift packs purchased from Macau Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society. A “God of Fortune” also appeared onsite to offer New Year greetings to participants, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
At the donation ceremony, Dr Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd, presented a donation cheque to António José de Freitas, President of Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Board of Trustees.

“As the longest-established charitable organization in Macau, Macau Holy House of Mercy has remained steadfast in its mission to support disadvantaged groups and advance community welfare,” said Dr Wong. “This year, we distributed Chinese New Year food hampers to more than 370 local families, sending festive warmth and blessings ahead of the holiday.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Macau Holy House of Mercy for their continued coordination and support, and to the Sands Cares Ambassadors for their participation and spirit of service.”
