Sands China hosted nearly 20 Form 4 students from Macau Anglican College for a three-day career exploration program at The Venetian Macao, marking another milestone in its commitment to nurturing local talent and supporting the government’s “academic, employment, entrepreneurial and career” development strategy.
From 18 to 20 June, students participated in the Diverse Exploration Lab, gaining a rare behind-the-scenes look at the integrated resort’s wide-ranging operations. The immersive experience included hands-on activities and interactive tours covering major departments such as entertainment, hotel operations, food and beverage, e-commerce, cybersecurity, MICE and facilities management.
Highlights of the program included exclusive access to The Venetian Theatre, team member heart-of-house areas, the teamLab SuperNature Macao interactive art space and various convention and exhibition facilities. Students also toured hotel suites and learned about facilities maintenance, providing a comprehensive overview of career opportunities within Macau’s tourism industry.
A DiSC personality profile workshop and lunch chat with participants from Sands China’s Integrated Resort Business Analyst Development Programme offered further guidance on personal development and professional planning.
Paulo Cheong, Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Sands China, stated, “Over the last 20 years, Sands China’s integrated resorts have created over 1,400 new job types and provided over 80,000 job opportunities for Macau residents.”
By partnering with local schools, the company hopes to inspire more young people to pursue fulfilling careers in tourism and hospitality, Cheong added.
Besides running its Diverse Exploration Lab, Sands China has supported the career exploration visit series organized by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) for three consecutive years.
