The 56th “Caritas Macau Charity Bazaar” was held at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre on 1and 2 November. Under the theme “Care and cherish each other, Bring happiness to all”, the event gathered immense public support, creating an exceptionally vibrant atmosphere.

This year’s event featured an expanded scale with 96 booths, including 81 game stalls and 15 food stalls. Participating entities spanned government departments, enterprises, community organizations, schools and Caritas-affiliated service units. The venue also hosted flag-selling fundraising booths and sold charity raffle tickets for the fair.
Approximately 150,000 charity raffle tickets were sold this year, with 238 lucky winners. All proceeds, after deducting necessary expenses, will be fully allocated to developing new social services and enhancing existing non-subsidized programs.

Notably, this year’s event actively promoted environmental sustainability. With support from the Environmental Protection Bureau and corporate sponsors, Caritas established multiple water refill stations on-site. Residents were encouraged to bring their own water bottles or cups to reduce single-use plastic consumption and contribute to protecting our planet.

The fair also featured a “Joy to Children at Christmas” charity stall in anticipation of the upcoming Christmas Warmth campaign. This initiative will purchase Christmas gifts worth MOP 200 each for 800 children from low-income families in Macau and 750 children from impoverished families in Timor-Leste, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Additionally, Caritas noted that if more funds are raised, they hope to support sick children with special needs and their families in Macau, as well as purchase food packages for impoverished families in East Timor, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
