SJM Resorts, S.A. recently held the “SJM Patriotic Education Series – Two Sessions Spirit Sharing Session.” The session was attended by Sun Yaohua, Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, and was moderated by Angela Leong, Director and Chairman of the Staff Welfare Consultative Committee of SJM.

Distinguished speakers included Ho Ion Sang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); Ng Sio Lai and Ho King Lun, Deputies to the National People’s Congress from the Macao SAR; and Lam Lon Wai, Member of the CPPCC from the Macao SAR.

Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, remarked via video that this year marks the beginning of the 15th Five‑Year Plan, which explicitly supports Macau’s development into a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure, bringing new opportunities to the city.

She noted that SJM will lead its team members in actively integrating into the national development framework, capitalizing on Macau’s dual international credentials as a UNESCO World Heritage site and a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. Ho added that, building on the “1+4” economic diversification strategy and “Tourism+” initiatives, SJM will further enhance Macau’s international appeal, and pointed to the group’s hotel project in Hengqin. The project, announced last year, will see SJM become the first Macau‑based integrated resort operator to establish a presence there in support of the Hengqin–Macau integration initiative.

Ho encouraged team members to translate the spirit of the Two Sessions into concrete actions, thereby effectively promoting Macau’s economic diversification and contributing to the steady, long‑term success of the “one country, two systems” principle.

Ho Ion Sang noted that Macau’s role has shifted from simply integrating into national development to actively serving it. He emphasized leveraging its dual strengths of support from the Motherland and global connections to strengthen the China-Portuguese platform, join the Belt and Road Initiative and aid national opening-up.

He urged society to seize the 15th Five-Year Plan opportunities, advance the “1+4” diversification strategy, consolidate tourism, integrate culture and tourism, and build a more dynamic, vibrant and livable Macau.

Ng Sio Lai stressed Macau should seize opportunities from the Greater Bay Area and Hengqin Cooperation Zone by strengthening rule of law, enhancing business cooperation and improving transport. She noted the 15th Five-Year Plan supports China’s high-quality growth and offers space for Macau’s development. While benefiting from national policies, Macau should leverage its unique strengths to integrate more deeply into national strategies and contribute proactively to the country’s progress, she said.

Ho King Lun noted Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang’s call for Macau to align with national planning and diversify its economy. He cited Director Xia Baolong’s encouragement to leverage timing, geography and social harmony, telling the “One Country, Two Systems” story. He stressed that the National Development Planning Law gives Macau’s integration legal assurance, urging the city to use its China-Portuguese platform and free-port advantages as a bridge in external circulation.

Lam Lon Wai focused on advancing the Hengqin Cooperation Zone and synergy with the Greater Bay Area. He stressed “investing in people” through the Craftsman Academy and the Macau-Hengqin International Education City, while urging Macau to align with national strategies and seize opportunities in AI, quantum tech and biomedicine to drive diversification.
