- Consuls General, Macau SAR officials, GBA business leaders and guests demonstrated MECC’s role as a bridge between Macau and Europe.
The Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC) commemorated its 12th Annual Gala Dinner on 15 May, at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, celebrating with approximately 300 guests, including European Consuls General in Hong Kong and Macau, Macau SAR officials, Greater Bay Area business leaders and other distinguished guests.

Themed “Carpathian Echoes – Of Mountains, Myths and Melodies,” the event spotlighted Romanian culture, featuring an immersive “Gateway of Legends” opening and a cultural performance by Macau musicians and Zhuhai College of Arts students, presenting traditional Romanian music and dance. The event also featured Romanian cuisine.
In her welcome remarks, Echo Chan, President of the MECC, highlighted how the event was “more than a gala; it is a platform connecting Europe, Macau and the Greater Bay Area”.

Chan referenced the Macau SAR Chief Executive’s recent visit to Europe as opening “a new chapter for cooperation between Macau-Hengqin and Europe,” noting that the MECC aims to act as a “precise connector”, helping more European enterprises access the GBA via Macau and Hengqin, while “assisting Macau and Mainland Chinese enterprises to expand into European, Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking markets.”
Ahead of the evening celebration, the MECC also hosted the “Europe-Macao-Hengqin Economic, Trade and Tourism Development Symposium,” with representatives from IPIM, DSEDT, CDQQ, Hengqin EDB and the China-Portuguese/Spanish-Speaking Countries Service Centre delivering presentations on Macau’s business environment, technological innovation, talent schemes, and Hengqin’s latest opportunities. European delegates exchanged views with Macau and Hengqin officials, including possible future collaboration suggestions.
The MECC, since its establishment in 2012, has been committed to fostering two-way exchanges in trade, tourism and culture between Macau and Europe.
