As part of the Tokyo Art Festival series, the “2026 International Children’s Art Exhibition” opened on 8 August at the Fuchu Art Museum in Tokyo. The exhibition brings together over 120 outstanding paintings from children around the world, including 40 works from Macau.

The Tokyo Art Festival received support from multiple associations, including the Macau Youth Artistic Association. With natural environment as the inspiration, this year’s event is divided into four major categories: landscape painting, anime and manga, calligraphy and mixed media painting. Since its launch, has attracted wide participation from children and art education institutions worldwide.
The Macau works showcased on-site possess distinct local characteristics. Young artists blend Macau’s coastal scenery with the aesthetic of Lingnan ink wash painting, wielding their brushes to depict mountain-and-sea coastlines. Meanwhile, participating children from around the world use colorful pencils and brushes to portray lush, flower-filled fields and narrate nature’s stories, translating the Eastern aesthetic concept of animism into a universal visual language. Breaking through traditional creative limitations, the children flexibly employ diverse materials and techniques, bridging regional and cultural divides with innocent art to achieve aesthetic resonance of the soul.

Anson Lai, President of the Macau Youth Artistic Association, pointed out that the exhibition not only allows Macau’s youth to explore the natural landscapes and artistic perspectives of the world through their artwork, but also showcases the emerging artistic talent of Macau’s younger generation to audiences in Japan and around the globe, enabling the world to discover Macau’s unique coastal culture through the eyes of children.
