- The International Series Macau presented by Wynn concluded with John Catlin winning the event.
- The event marks the debut of The International Series in Macau and is the second in a schedule of 10 elevated tournaments on the Asian Tour this season.
Boasting a total prize pool of US$2 million, The International Series Macau presented by Wynn took place in Macau from 14 to 17 March, with American golfer John Catlin clinching the championship trophy and a US$360,000 winner’s prize.
The event marked the debut of The International Series in Macau and is the second in a schedule of 10 elevated tournaments on the Asian Tour this season. Competitors included more than 20 players from the LIV Golf League and the elite echelons of the Asian Tour. Among the notables were Fireballs GC captain and 2017 US Masters champion Sergio Garcia, alongside Majesticks GC co-captain Ian Poulter, HyFlyers GC standout Andy Ogletree and Taichi Kho, Hong Kong’s gold medalist at the 2023 Asian Games.

The Asian Tour, through its membership of the International Federation of PGA Tours, is the only recognized pan-Asian professional golf tour in Asia. It is officially recognized by the Official World Golf Ranking and its events therefore offer valuable ranking points for participants to be recognized on the world stage. The International Series events offer elevated prize funds, world-class destinations and a pathway to the LIV Golf League for golfers from all over the globe. Held throughout the year in locations across Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East in a mix of established and emerging golf markets, The International Series was first introduced in the 2022 season through a landmark US$300 million investment from LIV Golf.
Collaboration with Macau Special Olympics
The International Series has underscored its commitment to inclusivity and the development of golf globally with a charitable contribution of US$25,000 to Macau Special Olympics (MSO). A special golf clinic for MSO athletes was held on the sidelines of The International Series Macau presented by Wynn. Asian Tour stars attended the clinic at the Golf Village on the South Lawn at Wynn Palace where they shared tips and insights for 20 MSO athletes around technique and what it takes to succeed in the game.

Rahul Singh, Head of The International Series, remarked, “The International Series plays an important role in the wider golf ecosystem, and part of that is supporting our host communities. Our contribution to the Macau Special Olympics is part of an inclusive commitment that will help in the development of golf and sport in the region across the entire community, bringing golf to a wider demographic and unlocking the potential of untapped talent in the region.”

Wynn stated it hopes to further encourage social inclusion in sports and help athletes with disabilities reach their full potential through this charitable endeavor.
“Golf Village” invited locals and tourists to join the fun
During the tournament week, Wynn Palace transformed its South Lawn into a vibrant “Golf Village”, presenting both Macau locals and visitors with a thrilling chance to dive into the world of golf.
The Golf Village boasted an array of complimentary golf-themed activities, including mini-golf tournaments and a variety of family-friendly games for participants of all ages to enjoy. Golf enthusiasts had the opportunity to hone their skills at a themed driving range equipped with putting greens, or venture into the novel excitement of the “Zorb Ball” experience. Guests were also invited to the newly inaugurated Wynn Palace Entertainment Event Marquee and South Lawn to catch live broadcasts of the tournament and indulge in a selection of delectable local culinary delights.

The event and its accompanying activities have drawn the attention of golf enthusiasts and spectators from surrounding areas. Notably, members of the Golf Association of Hong Kong, China (GAHKC) Junior Squad – Hilario Ng and Harold Ng – embarked on a special journey to Macau to experience the tournament firsthand and engage directly with their admired players. They expressed their excitement, stating, “This event provided us with a unique chance to learn from and observe so many masters in one place. The Golf Village was incredibly enjoyable too! We’re eagerly anticipating our return next year to experience the games in person!”

Wynn aims to further promote golf development in the surrounding regions through this event. During the championship award ceremony, Linda Chen, President, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, stated, “We wholeheartedly congratulate the successful tournament and extend our special thanks to the Sports Bureau of Macau SAR Government for their support of this world-class golf event. Over the past few days, the players have demonstrated outstanding performances, showcasing the highest level of competition at the Macau Golf and Country Club. We sincerely appreciate the fans and guests who came to our Golf Village at Wynn Palace to watch the golf and enjoy the entertainment.
“For Wynn, this tournament was an important strategic step forward in showcasing our commitment to the Macau SAR Government’s diversification development strategy, and we believe it has helped us in our efforts to strengthen the city’s position as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.”
