In December last year, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to China, the Macau Youth Artistic Association organized a meticulously planned cultural performance and a children’s art exhibition. These events showcased the creativity and patriotism of Macau’s youth through a variety of cultural activities.
To select talented youth for the celebration, the association held a series of activities between July and November last year, including a youth music competition and a children’s painting competition. The music competition featured performances of both Chinese and Western instruments, with a special category dedicated to piano performances of Chinese compositions, aiming to promote Chinese culture. The painting competition encouraged children to use diverse artistic mediums to depict Macau’s landscapes, historical architecture and multicultural charm, expressing their deep understanding of Macau and China.
The two competitions attracted over 2,800 young participants from Macau, ultimately selecting 38 outstanding young musicians and 150 exquisite artworks. These activities highlighted the artistic talent and creativity of Macau’s youth.
The event series featured music and painting competitions, art exhibitions, cultural performances and award ceremonies. The association said it hopes to use these platforms to showcase the innovation and progress of Macau’s youth in cultural and artistic fields.
Lai Hon Cheng, President of the Macau Youth Artistic Association, emphasized that inviting local youth to actively participate in artistic creation and performances not only deepens their understanding of the significance of the “One Country, Two Systems” principle but also fosters a strong sense of patriotism, pride and belonging toward their country.
He further expressed his hope to continue hosting such events in the future, providing more opportunities for young people to showcase their artistic talents and contributing to the flourishing cultural landscape of Macau.
