  • The collaboration aims to create a multi-cultural experience for citizens and visitors, injecting contemporary vitality into the essence of traditional Chinese culture.

This Spring Festival, MGM has partnered with the Prince Kung’s Palace Museum to launch a special exhibition themed on Chinese New Year paintings, taking place simultaneously in Macau and Beijing. The collaboration aims to create a multi-cultural experience for citizens and visitors, injecting contemporary vitality into the essence of traditional Chinese culture.

Under the “Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Promotion Plan” signed by both parties in September 2024, the Macau exhibition is being held in the Barra area. It showcases 22 regional New Year paintings from the Prince Kung’s Palace Museum’s esteemed collection. The exhibition, hosted at the former Slaughterhouse at Barra District, runs from 24 January to 25 February.

A standout feature of the exhibition is the “New Year Painting Creative Workshop”, where visitors are invited to reinterpret the exhibited works and experience the intangible cultural heritage of rubbing printing techniques firsthand. Participants can create their own Chinese New Year paintings and take them home as unique mementos. Additionally, MGM has designed the rubbing modules into color-print art kits, which are distributed as festive souvenirs.

Meanwhile, the Prince Kung’s Palace Museum in Beijing is hosting a woodblock printing exhibition which features over 100 woodblock Chinese New Year paintings from major production regions across mainland China.

As part of the “Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Promotion Plan”, MGM and the Prince Kung’s Palace Museum are committed to integrating traditional culture with contemporary design. By incorporating traditional cultural elements into modern life through innovative approaches, the collaboration seeks to spark public interest and appreciation for China’s cultural heritage.
