• The MYAA officially opened the “Macao International Piano Arts Week 2026.”
• Five-day event features high-level piano masterclasses and artistic exchange.

Organized by the Macao Youth Artistic Association (MYAA) and supported by the City University of Macau, the grand opening of the “Macao International Piano Arts Week (MIPAW) 2026” officially took place on 21 July at the Cultural Centre of the City University of Macau. The event brings together world-class piano masters and distinguished guests, with five days of high-level piano masterclasses and an artistic exchange program.

This year’s Art Week features a star-studded lineup. Special guests include Dang Thai Son, winner of the 1980 International Chopin Piano Competition; Vanessa Latarche, Head of Keyboard at the Royal College of Music in the UK; Xinning Zhang, Professor at the Central Conservatory of Music; and pianist Eva Yulin Shen.

An opening concert was held on-site, with Artistic Director Eva Yulin Shen and Vanessa Latarche performing Debussy’s Petite Suite, Op. 65, Movement I “En Bateau” as a four-hand piano duet.

Speaking of this year’s edition, Xiao Fan Yang, Executive Artistic Director of MIPAW, stated that the event is rooted in Macau’s cultural identity and aims to establish a professional, international platform for piano learning and exchange, enhancing young students’ performance skills and stage practice abilities.

Running from 21 to 25 July, the Arts Week features thematic lectures, open international classes, and one-on-one masterclasses, providing young students with opportunities to learn directly from international masters. At the conclusion of the event, instructors and judges will select 10 to 12 outstanding students to perform at the closing concert, showcasing the talent and promise of young musicians.
