  • Galaxy Entertainment Group hosted its “Sharing Session of the Two Sessions” education series and youth programs.
  • The series of events aim to deepen the national awareness of GEG team members and local youth.

Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) recently hosted its annual “Sharing Session of the NPC and CPPCC – GEG National Education Series” at the Galaxy International Convention Center. The event aimed to enhance understanding of the key outcomes and strategic directions outlined during the recently concluded Third Session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), collectively known as the “Two Sessions”.

Distinguished speakers included Mr Vong Hin Fai, Deputy to the NPC and Member of the Legislative Assembly of the Macau SAR; Ms Chan Hong, Deputy to the NPC and President of the Chinese Educators Association of Macau; Mr Iau Teng Pio, Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC and Member of the Legislative Assembly of the Macau SAR; and Mr Francis Lui, Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC and Chairman of GEG. The event was also attended and supported by Mr Sun Yaohua, Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR.

Conducted in a hybrid format, the forum attracted more than 600 GEG and K. Wah Construction Materials senior team members from Macau, Hong Kong, Hengqin, East China and Yunnan. The speakers addressed key themes from the government work report, including Macau’s economic diversification, integration with the Hengqin Cooperation Zone and Beijing’s new call to “enhance international engagement and cooperation” with Hong Kong and Macau.

In his remarks, Lui emphasized the significance of measures to “stimulate domestic consumption” mentioned in the government work report, particularly in the cultural, tourism and sports sectors.

“Macau’s tourism industry is well-positioned to respond,” he said. “GEG will continue its commitment to fully support national development and the SAR Government’s policies, and contribute to the enrichment of Macau’s offerings as a ‘World Center of Tourism and Leisure’.”

To broaden awareness among employees, GEG will produce a highlights video of the forum for internal distribution across its back-of-house staff areas, reaching over 20,000 team members.

Further extending its commitment to national education, GEG co-organized a themed film screening of the documentary “The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru” – winner of Best Documentary/Educational Film at the 37th Golden Rooster Awards – at Galaxy Cinemas. Over 100 youth participants from the GEG Youth Achievement Program (YAP) and members of the Federation of Associations of Cultural Sectors of Macau were in attendance.

In addition, the “GEG Astronomy Cup – The written test of the 1st Macau International Youth Astronomy Competition” was held on 29 March. Organized by the Science Education Promotion Association of Macau and title-sponsored by GEG under its “GEG Technology Development Promotion Program”, the event served as the Macau regional selection for the Ministry of Education’s whitelist event, the “Chinese National Astronomy Olympiad”. It attracted over 1,000 students, with about 60% from mainland China and 40% from Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.

As the first international youth astronomy competition in Macau, the “GEG Astronomy Cup” has successfully built a cross-regional communication platform for astronomy enthusiasts. The results of the competition will be announced on 11 April and the award ceremony will be held on 26 April at the Galaxy International Convention Center.

Moving forward, GEG said it will continue to support youth development in science and national education through enriching learning platforms and long-term investment in talent cultivation.
