A grand blessing ceremony for “This City Never Sleeps,” a flagship drama produced by Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) and title sponsored by SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”), took place at Kam Pek Market. The star-studded event drew large crowds of enthusiastic fans eager to catch a glimpse of their idols, significantly boosting the district’s energy and footfall.

SJM aims to showcase Macau’s multifaceted identity and unique charm through the camera lens. By drawing visitors into different neighborhoods and spots of interest, the project is expected to boost foot traffic, stimulate local business and support both tourism and commercial activity throughout the city, contributing to Macau’s “Tourism+” integration strategy.

Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, said: “Film and television are not only a form of entertainment, but also a powerful medium for city branding and tourism promotion. Through this collaboration with TVB, we’re inviting audiences to step into Macau’s streets and alleyways – to experience the warmth, stories and cultural richness of the city. We hope the series will bring Macau closer to audiences across Asia while generating tangible economic benefits for our local districts and community.”

The series will feature a variety of iconic locations in Macau, including Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, Grand Lisboa Macau, Macau Tower, Macau Palace and Kam Pek Market. It will also spotlight culturally layered neighborhoods such as Rua de Cinco de Outubro, the San Ma Lo district and other distinctive areas. The drama will capture the fusion of East and West, and the evolving dialogue between old and new that defines Macau’s urban identity, sparking a wave of “onscreen location” community tourism.

One particular highlight is the reappearance of the Macau Palace, an iconic floating structure that was once a popular tourist attraction in the 1980s and 1990s. Now revitalised after years of closure, it will make its return through the TV series, evoking cherished collective memories of this “Palace on the Sea.”

“This City Never Sleeps” will air on TVB’s channels and streaming platforms in 2026, bringing Macau’s captivating cityscapes to audiences worldwide—including Malaysia, Singapore, the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe, New Zealand, Vietnam, Taiwan region, Thailand, and beyond—further enhancing Macau’s allure as a premier tourism destination for overseas Chinese communities.
