The Associação dos Comerciantes da Boa Cozinha de Macau (ACBCM) recently held a Chinese New Year visitation activity. Led by President Terence Ho Tsz Kit and Chairman Leong Sze Yau, a delegation of more than 20 members visited several member businesses along Rua do Cunha in Taipa, extending festive greetings and the blessing of “Prosperity and Good Fortune” to merchants.

The visit aimed to encourage the industry and to gain a better understanding of each shop’s operating conditions during the holiday period. ACBCM Vice President and event coordinator, Lo Nok Hang, said this year marks the fifth consecutive year the association has visited member businesses during the Spring Festival. In addition to in-person visits, the association also arranged for designated staff to “deliver blessings to stores,” reaching more than 200 merchants. The association said it hopes that by delivering blessings and care, it can bring positive energy to the industry and carry on the long-standing spirit of mutual support, encouragement and shared progress among peers.

Lo added that guests from Shenzhen were specially invited to join this year’s activity, making it even more meaningful. During the visits, both sides exchanged ideas and learned from each other about the development and management of food streets in the two cities.

Lo stated that Rua do Cunha, as one of Macau’s most representative food street districts, has over time developed a relatively mature model for community-based economic development.
A delegation including Jiang Chong’an, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Nanyuan Subdistrict, Futian District, Shenzhen, and Wang Feiyan, Deputy Secretary and Director of the Subdistrict People’s Congress Working Committee, also conducted an on-site visit to observe the economic atmosphere of Macau’s community streets.
