GEG supports Competitions on Astronomy and National Education to broaden youth’s horizons through multiple initiatives

  • GEG again title-sponsored the “GEG Astronomy Cup” and the “GEG Macau Cup” to support the youth development through diverse initiatives.

Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) continues to support the learning and growth of Macau’s youth through diverse initiatives. By recently title-sponsoring the “2026 Macau Astronomy Study Tour & GEG Astronomy Cup – The 2nd Macau (International) Youth Astronomy Competition” and the “GEG Macau Cup – 18th Youth National Education Competition,” GEG has promoted science and national education, encouraging students to broaden their horizons through competitions and outreach activities.

For the second consecutive year, GEG was title-sponsor of the “GEG Astronomy Cup,” which serves as the Macau regional selection for the “Chinese National Astronomy Olympiad” – a Ministry of Education whitelist event. The series kicked off during the Lantern Festival with the workshop “Moon Exploration: 2026 Total Lunar Eclipse Observation.” The event attracted over 100 local students.

GEG Astronomy Cup

Title-sponsored by GEG for the 18th consecutive year, the “GEG Macau Cup” welcomed record participation this year, attracting over 16,000 students from 36 schools across Macau. Over the past 18 years, the competition has attracted more than 160,000 students. With the theme of focusing on Chinese civilization and the cultural heritage of the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, the event aims to guide students to explore the historical context of the two rivers and further deepen their understanding of Chinese culture. The final will be held on April 30 at the Galaxy International Convention Center.

GEG Macau Cup (Youth National Education Knowledge Competition)

Furthermore, the “GEG Astronomy Cup” saw increased participation, attracted over 2,000 students from home and abroad, including 550 from Macau. Additionally, nearly 70 mainland students visited Macau from 10 to 12 April for a study tour. Beyond innovation and cultural experiences, the group also visited the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards on 11 April, which allowed them to explore the history of Macau’s shipbuilding industry and community landscape, creating a synergy between scientific exploration and local humanities.
