Orbis promotes “Share the blessings of CNY” campaign, encourages lai see cash donation

Orbis Macau is promoting a red packet donation program to encourage lai see (red packet) receivers, mostly children and students, to share and extend the blessings they receive from the givers of the red packets. Orbis aims to educate children and students – or anyone who is receiving lai see blessings – to share their luck and fortune towards a good cause.

Donations are being collected by schools, but donations can also be made online or directly to Orbis Macau in cash. Special talks will be given to local schools to introduce the donation scheme collection box which will be provided to those schools.

Officially launched in 2022, the donation program began on the 10th day of the lunar new year – which this year is 31 January – and is planned to run until the end of February. The program was initiated by local parents who decided to keep a portion of their children’s lai see for good causes to teach the importance of sharing. Orbis decided to expand upon this leading to the fund-raising program.

Orbis Macau is part of the global Orbis organization, whose mission is to empower local communities with the skills and resources necessary to fight blindness, using Orbis’ network of partners, supporters, staff and sector-leading volunteers. Orbis works alongside eye teams in communities to provide training and guidance to leave a long-term eye care legacy that aims to restore vision for generations to come.

Donations for the red packet campaign can be made online at orbismacau.shoppoint.mo.
