In July, the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Macau and the Institute of Collaborative Innovation jointly organized an interdisciplinary summer camp for outstanding students. It successfully attracted over 600 college students from more than 80 different universities, providing students with an interdisciplinary academic exchange and practice platform.
The Faculty of Science and Technology and the Institute of Collaborative Innovation of the University of Macau have been committed to promoting the development of science and technology innovation and education in Macau, and actively expanding exchanges and cooperation with universities at home and abroad.
The four-day interdisciplinary summer camp saw more than 600 students sign-up from 40 double-first-class universities in mainland China, plus well-known universities in Singapore, Hong Kong and elsewhere. Participating students not only took part in academic lectures and departmental activities, but also visited various facilities of the University of Macau to experience its international school-running model, collegial whole-person education system, and strength in scientific research and innovation.
One of the participating students said, “The visits to the workshop covered cutting-edge scientific research projects in various disciplines, which have had a positive impact and provided inspiration to improve my learning.”
The summer camp for outstanding university students is a landmark activity of UM in the field of education, and serves as an important measure to inject new impetus into higher education in Macau and the mainland.
