The development of the Asian comic industry has been influencing popular entertainment culture in Macau. Aiming to show the latest development of the industry, the Rui Cunha Foundation last week presented the “Macao Asian Comics Exhibition + ArmourMan Manga Exhibition”, featuring artworks from comic artists of different countries and areas.
The two productions, which launched on the evening of Tuesday 8 August, were co-organized by the Association of Promoting Macau Comics and Animation Cultural Exchange (APMCACE) and curated by Mr Howard Chan. Featuring more than 60 pieces of art in all, the Exhibitions will run for two weeks.
The first week, with the theme of “Macao Asian Comics Exhibition”, is showing pieces of art from Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Japan. The second week, starring the Hong Kong comics master James Khoo Fuk Lung, will showcase more than 30 pieces of his latest work, including the famous “ArmourMan”.
“ArmourMan”, James’ latest work, is a best-selling weekly Hong Kong comic magazine. Its weekly sales volume in Macau has also hit a record high, so APMCACE decided to invite the artist to present it in Macau, with the aim of bringing the superhero to Macau, for locals and visitors alike.
