December 20 is celebrated annually as Macau Special Administrative Region Establishment Day, and this year marks the 24th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland. The Women’s General Association of Macau hosted a reception to celebrate the grand occasion on the eve of the special day.
Life Honorary President Ho Teng Iat, President Lau Kam Ling and other members joined the celebration. Other subsidiary organizations organized team members to perform at the reception. In her speech, President Lau summarized the Association’s work in 2023 and stated that under the united leadership of the country and the SAR Government, all sectors of society worked together. “As the backbone of the community, the Women’s General Association of Macau strives to unite and bring together women from all walks of life, promote the spirit of patriotism and love for Macau, and support the SAR government in governing according to the law,” she said.

The year 2024 will mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of China and the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Macau SAR, a year of double celebration. Ms Lau pointed out that the Association will focus on five major aspects next year, namely “conscientiously implementing the spirit of important speeches, building a bridge for effective communication between the government and the people, sharing stories of good family values, proactively seizing development opportunities, and enhancing solidarity with women.”
