Macau integrated resort operator Wynn has unveiled a brand new immersive destination, the “Illuminarium”. Centered around the theme of space exploration, the destination melds technology with aesthetics to create an immersive and interactive environment. It aims to enhance public understanding of China’s aerospace achievements while showcasing the diverse aspects of Macau’s “tourism+” initiative.

The Illuminarium at Wynn Palace is divided into two sections. The first of these showcases the millennia-long journey of the Chinese nation’s exploration of the universe, where visitors can follow in the footsteps of ancient explorers on their extensive voyages through the stars and oceans, experiencing the thrilling realization of the “space dream” in a vivid, immersive setting.
The second section of the Illuminarium brings visitors back to the present day, with a window into the future. Visitors feel as though they are boarding a ready-to-launch spacecraft, journeying into the vastness of space. This scientifically informative, interactive and immersive space lets visitors feel like they are landing on the moon’s surface. Visitors can walk on the moon’s surface and experience the incredible sensation of stepping on lunar rocks, marvel at the vast depth of the universe, and be surrounded by the galaxy and constellations. Through the lens of the James Webb Space Telescope, visitors take in breathtaking scenes and explore the universe from a 360-degree perspective.
The Illuminarium was grandly unveiled on 19 January at Wynn Palace. Linda Chen, President, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau Limited, said, “Wynn hopes that Illuminarium will lead visitors on a journey of discovery into the thousand-year history of China’s spirit of exploration and pay tribute to the major milestones that the China aerospace industry has achieved over the past three decades, while also representing a gift in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR.
“Illuminarium has been designed with the aim of supporting the moderate diversified development of Macao, and we look forward to ensuring that this brand-new immersive destination serves as a far-reaching educational platform, creates a more diversified experience for visitors, and makes significant contributions to Macao’s tourism industry.”
Other attendees at the ceremony included Ms. Yang Hao, Deputy Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Ms Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office; Ms Leong Wai Man, President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau; Mr Chan Chou Weng, Acting Head of the Technology Department of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau; Dr Allan Zeman, Chairman and Independent non-executive Director of Wynn Macau Limited; and Mr Alan Greenberg, Chief Executive Officer of Illuminarium Experiences.
