Wynn, in collaboration with the Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association, recently announced the continuation of the “Wynn and Kiang Wu Critical Illness Assistance Scheme” collaboration. At a press conference held in early February, the organizations detailed the significant growth of the program’s reach and funding in its second year, emphasizing their commitment to addressing urgent healthcare needs in Macau.
Since its inception in 2021, the program has been dedicated to providing financial assistance to patients aged 13 to 65 with critical illnesses and their families who face financial difficulties and are not covered by government healthcare or insurance.
Linda Chen, President, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau Limited, and Chairman of the Wynn Care Foundation, noted that “in comparison with the first year of launching the scheme, the number of subsidized patients in 2022-23 increased by 111.8%.
“The aim of this assistance scheme is to help patients with critical needs, strive for early identification of critically ill patients, and provide timely and personalized treatment plans to help patients and their families overcome any potential financial burdens.”
Lau Veng Seng, President of the Board of Directors of Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association, said that the hospital’s emergency green channel now offers around-the-clock emergency treatment plans for Acute Coronary Syndrome, Acute Gastrointestinal Bleeding, Acute Trauma, Stroke, Carbon Monoxide Poisoning and Life-saving Measures for Critically Ill Pregnant Women, all of which will “significantly improve the efficiency and quality of treatment for critically ill patients while also increasing patient survival rates and reducing mortality”.
The “Wynn and Kiang Wu Critical Illness Assistance Scheme” targets eligible local residents. Applications for assistance can be submitted by the patient or their family members and are processed in accordance with Kiang Wu Hospital’s latest approval procedures.
The program’s funding is managed by the Kiang Wu Hospital Charity Association. Regular reporting on the utilization of funds is maintained to ensure the transparency and effectiveness of all financial assistance provided.
