The “15th Anniversary of Responsible Gambling Promotions” Symposium and Closing Ceremony, co-organized by the Social Welfare Bureau, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau and the Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming at the University of Macau, concluded in early November, drawing over 200 attendees.

During the ceremony, 21 organizations, including social service agencies, concessionaires and other relevant departments, were recognized as “Responsible Gambling Model Units” and received plaques commemorating their contributions. Certificates were also awarded to 201 individuals who successfully completed the “Macau Professional Certificate in Gambling Counselling”, the “Certificate in Macau Responsible Gaming Advisor” and related trainer certification programs.

The symposium featured a series of keynote speeches, panel discussions and interactive sessions. Experts from both local and international communities, alongside representatives from the Hong Kong SAR and concessionaires, shared their research findings and perspectives. These discussions provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities in fostering responsible gambling practices.

Launched in June under the theme “Seeking Help for Winning the Future”, the 2024 Responsible Gambling Promotions received support from concessionaires and gambling disorder prevention organizations. Over 140 diverse promotional events were held throughout the year, collectively attracting around 460,000 participants.

The organizers extended their gratitude to the community for its active support of responsible gambling initiatives. They also announced plans to continue the campaign into 2025 under the same theme, with a renewed emphasis on raising awareness among young people about gambling prevention and the importance of seeking help. Residents were encouraged to actively engage in the upcoming programs to further strengthen Macau’s commitment to responsible gambling.
