The Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) held its regular research seminar on 10 January at the Ilha Verde Campus. The event brought together professors, alumni and researchers to share their latest findings on topics related to Macau and China, fostering a vibrant research culture within the faculty.
The seminar featured presentations from distinguished speakers on a variety of interdisciplinary topics. Prof. Michael Ha explored corporate bonds disclosure and risk management, while Prof. Sérgio Gomes analyzed intersectoral relations in booming economies. Nicolette Liao, an MBA graduate student, discussed the future of Macau’s gaming industry post-new gaming laws, focusing on non-gaming initiatives.
Prof. Florence Lei and An Boyang examined the impact of education on green fintech adoption in Beijing’s New Sub-Center, Tongzhou, while Prof. Alessandro Lampo presented a study on Macau consumers’ perception of electric aviation using the Theory of Planned Behavior.
Prof. Jenny Phillips, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, emphasized the importance of such events, stating, “The aim of the seminar is to enhance the research culture at the Faculty of Business and Law. We aim to organize two research seminars per year for our professors, graduate students and researchers to share their research output. It is also a way to share with the community the research the FBL is working on.”
The event, conducted entirely in English, attracted a diverse audience of academics, students and industry professionals.
