  • Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and is offered on days with two scheduled performances.

To further enrich Macau’s positioning as both a “City of Performing Arts” and a “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure,” City of Dreams Macau has officially launched its House of Dancing Water Show & Backstage Tour Package, inviting guests to journey from front-of-house to the backstage and partake in the secrets behind its world-class legendary aquatic show.

Guests can now embark on an immersive journey to experience the artistic spectacle that brings together aerial acrobatics, dramatic storytelling, cutting-edge technology and a breathtaking theatrical experience.

Since its return with a new chapter on 7 May, 2025, the House of Dancing Water has delivered over 450 performances. This summer, it is set to welcome its one-millionth audience member, marking a significant milestone in its continued global success.

The House of Dancing Water backstage tour launched on 15 July, 2026, offering exclusive first-time access to multiple core areas of the theater and inviting guests to explore the craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology behind the world-class legendary show.

Refreshed production introduces a new narrative that seamlessly blends choreography, storytelling and technical innovation.

The show behind the show

The tour begins at the VVIP box (Golden Circle seating area) and extends to the underground diving area, providing a comprehensive look into the daily workflow of its professional divers and maintenance teams, showcasing the stringent standards upheld to ensure safety and performance excellence.

Along the journey, guests discover how major stage props — such as the Golden Boat and the Dream Pagoda —operate, gaining deeper insight into the complex and sophisticated systems that bring the entire performance to life.

This is furthered by an introduction to the massive pool – with a capacity of 17 million liters of water (equivalent to more than five Olympic-sized swimming pools) – where guests witness firsthand the technology and meticulous craftsmanship that underpin this legendary show.

Guests also have the opportunity to ascend to an 18-meter-high platform above the stage, enjoying a performer’s-eye view of the entire set while experiencing the immersive stage design.

Lastly, the tour unveils rarely seen stories from both onstage and behind the scenes — from intensive training and precise execution to rapid costume changes under extreme time constraints – highlighting the dedication and passion that performers and backstage teams bring to every show.

Join the experience!

Looking ahead, House of Dancing Water will continue to solidify its legacy as a once-in-a-lifetime aquatic show, while strengthening its global position as a premier world-class entertainment act through multi-dimensional immersive experiences.

As one of the landmark entertainment offerings supporting Macau’s vision as a “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure,” the backstage tour injects fresh vitality into the local performing arts landscape and offers visitors a unique behind-the-scenes experience to feel the magic of the stage from a new perspective.

Starting from 15 July, 2026, City of Dreams Macau invites audiences from around the world to step into the House of Dancing Water theater, to immerse themselves in the secrets behind its world-class legendary show, transcending the boundaries of stage and backstage.

The “House of Dancing Water Show & Backstage Tour Package” starts at MOP888 per person, while the standalone House of Dancing Water Backstage Tour is priced at MOP500 per person.

Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and is available on days with two scheduled performances, commencing after the final show (around 9:15pm), subject to the performance end time. Participants must be aged 12 or above, and guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

“A heartfelt story of love and courage”

The refreshed production introduces a brand-new narrative set in a fantastical realm where love, courage and destiny intertwine.

Giuliano Peparini, Artistic Director of Peparini Studios – whose international credits include Cirque du Soleil – leads the creative charge with a vision that seamlessly blends choreography, storytelling and technical innovation.

The updated story remains rooted in myth and romance. At its core is the journey of a stranger who ventures into a mystical realm to rescue Princess Aani, imprisoned by her stepmother, the Dark Queen. Yet this time, the princess becomes the rescuer – saving the stranger using her water-based powers.

Behind the spectacle lies extraordinary stagecraft – a massive pool, dynamic lifts, water curtains and 13 blended new design elements such as a human chandelier and laser grids seamlessly blending technology with imagination. Enhanced by new orchestration and 24 custom-designed costumes, the performance delivers an immersive sensory experience.

Guests have exclusive access to the 18-meter elevated stage platform for a performers’ full view of the theatre.

Reaching new heights

New scenic environments, including the Magic Garden and the City of the Future, appear and disappear in moments via a high-speed Barco projection system and retractable LED screens. The Human Chandelier – one of the show’s signature aerial acts – has also been redesigned with the addition of flying light installations, increasing the verticality and visual drama of the sequence.

The Golden Boat, another iconic centerpiece, has been reengineered with an advanced hydraulic system for smoother, more cinematic movement. All technical aspects are designed to meet the physical demands of performers who leap from heights of up to 25 meters and re-emerge from the water in quick succession.

The cast and crew include former Olympic athletes, whose talent and dedication ensure each moment is executed with passion and precision.

Costume designer Valentina Davoli, together with stylist Connie Dyson (whose credits include Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), created 24 new looks that fuse stage glamor with functional engineering. Among the most visually arresting designs are crystal-laden skull masks worn on the backs of dancers’ heads, each adorned with over 3,000 Swarovski crystals.

The show’s musical score has been completely orchestrated and recorded with a live symphony orchestra, offering a broader emotional range that guides the audience through moments of awe, suspense and tenderness

House of Dancing Water has won multiple accolades, including at the 2025 TITAN Brand Awards, winning the Platinum Award for Best Brand Awareness Campaign and the Gold Award for Best Integrated Marketing Campaign.
