Sands China joined forces with the Cultural Affairs Bureau to co-host the “MICAF Fun Day – Arts Carnival” this summer. Held over two weekends in late August, the event attracted a total of 63,000 participants.
The Arts Carnival was part of the inaugural “Macao International Children’s Arts Festival” and also aligned with Sands China’s community revitalization efforts. Set against the Macao Cultural Centre Plaza, the festival featured an array of activities including large art decorations, a fun art park, food, a creative market, a kid’s gaming area, Macau’s first outdoor water and foam party, and outdoor cinemas. The event’s entertainment line-up included stage and street performances by popular Hong Kong singers, wind orchestras, street dancers, clowns, magicians and acrobats.
During the festival, the Macau Youth Symphonic Band captivated large audiences with performances of iconic animated film scores. Post-performance, select young musicians showcased their talents with solo acts on instruments such as the horn, xylophone and saxophone.
Sands China curated unique experiences for 60 Sands Cares Ambassadors and members from the Macao Catholic Family Advisory Council and Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office. These guests enjoyed performances, partook in backstage tours, explored art installations and participated in family art workshops.
Dr Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd, described the Arts Carnival as a summer attraction to provide parents and children with the opportunity to enjoy quality time together through a variety of fun and artistic activities.
“We hope that by supporting the various arts and cultural activities in Macau’s revitalization areas we can further enrich the leisure and tourism experience at Macao Cultural Centre Plaza and nearby areas, in support of the integrated development of culture and tourism in Macau,” Dr Wong said.
