- The Cultural Affairs Bureau and Galaxy Entertainment Group are jointly organizing the “The 2nd Galaxy Entertainment Group Macao International Shorts Film Festival”.

Organized by Macau’s Cultural Affairs Bureau and Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), the “The 2nd Galaxy Entertainment Group Macao International Shorts Film Festival” will take place from 14 to 21 September.
The event will be held at venues including Galaxy Cinemas, Galaxy International Convention Center (GICC), Andaz Macau Hotel and Cinematheque・Passion, featuring highlights such as short film screenings, masterclasses, themed workshops and industry panel discussions.
This year marks the second consecutive year that GEG and the Cultural Affairs Bureau have co-hosted the festival. A press conference was held on 19 August at GICC, attended by Ms Leong Wai Man, Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau; Mr Cheang Kai Meng and Mr Choi Kin Long, Vice Presidents of the Cultural Affairs Bureau; Ms Annie Loi, Vice President of Public Relations of GEG; and Ms Kam Leong, Assistant Vice President of Public Relations of GEG.
This year’s festival features five main sections: “Macao Shorts”, “New Voices from Horizon”, “Director in Focus”, “East Asia Panorama” and “Special Screenings”. From 14 September onwards, a selection of outstanding short films from various regions will be screened at Cinematheque・Passion under the Cultural Affairs Bureau and Galaxy Cinemas.
The closing award ceremony will take place on 20 September at GICC’s Galaxy Auditorium, where several awards will be presented, including the Macao Unit Award and Jury Special Mention from the “Macao Shorts” section, as well as Best Short Film, Jury Special Mention, Best Director and Innovative Storytelling Award from the “New Voices from Horizon” section.
Additionally, to encourage outstanding works from East Asia, the East Asia of Tomorrow Award has been established. All winners will receive a trophy and a cash prize as an encouragement.
Notably, the Shorts Film Festival is collaborating with the “Giornate degli Autori” (Venice Days) parallel section of the Venice International Film Festival. From 29 to 30 August, “Macao Day” will be held in Venice, Italy, featuring screenings of Macau works, further promoting local creators and their works on the international stage.
